Darcy Elizabeth
Therapy Dog Wonder
Office Treats Coordinator
Hi! I’m Darcy. I’m here for the treats.
I struggled for years with social anxiety. My mom (Emily Pennington) took me to all kinds of trainers to try to figure out why I was so anxious, and to learn skills to build up my confidence. I know what it’s like to feel nervous when you meet someone new (I still get like that sometimes!), but I’m here to tell you that being anxious doesn’t have to keep you from living your dreams - especially if your dreams are to spend your days taking naps and getting treats. Trust me, I’m living that dream right now!
What it’s like to work with me
Everyone is a work in progress, including me! So when I first meet you, I may get nervous and bark, but like most of us who are working on our social anxiety, I tend to relax after that first big meeting is over (phew!). I have learned that routines are suuuuper helpful for me, so once I say hi, I get my treat (“for being sweet”), and then I usually will take a nap under mom’s chair (therapy is a lot of work!). My big job is usually at the end of the session when I sometimes will come out and roll over, which means I am offering a belly rub (for you of course, as a coping skill. Definitely not just because I love belly rubs.)
I love working with teens (generally ages 14 and up) and adults. My mom doesn’t have any kids, so I haven’t had much time around littler clients, but I would say I’m pretty much a pro when it comes to high-schoolers and adults.
The more I get to know you, the more excited I get when I see you! So if you think working with me sounds like it might be helpful for you, reach out to my mom today!
